To Whom It May Concern:
I represent Southeast Portland
on the Metro Council. The Metro Council is the nation's
only directly elected regional government. Under its
voter-approved Charter, Metro's "most important
public service is planning and policy making to preserve
and enhance our quality of life... for present and
future generations."
Quality of life begins at the neighborhood
level!
Facilities like Cleveland Community
Field that serve dual purposes for the community and
the host public school, provide an important focus
for building community. For this reason they are an
important part of a livable neighborhood.
I support the Cleveland Community
Field Project because it will continue the progress
Southeast Portland neighborhoods have made in recent
years. Southeast neighborhoods whose future did not
look bright just two decades ago are now lively, vibrant
places that are attracting a new generation of families.
These families, as well as other
residents of all ages in Southeast Portland, need
a safe, attractive place for active recreation.
I encourage you to support the efforts
of the Cleveland Community Field Project.
Sincerely,
Robert Liberty
Metro Councilor, District 6
