To whom it may concern:
I would like to express my support
for the Cleveland Community Field Project. As coach
of a Portland area youth track and field program,
I can attest to the need in our community for adequate
training and competition facilities. The few tracks
that are currently available to the public are overcrowded
and congested with a mixture of walkers, strollers,
joggers, and runners. All these folks need facility
access to maintain their health and fitness. The Cleveland
Project will greatly help fill that need.
The young athletes that I coach
are elementary and middle school students who belong
to a local USATF developmental track club. They need
quality training facilities to develop their talents.
Many are gifted athletes who compete at the National
Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships. They
work very hard to achieve their goals and they deserve
as much support as we can possibly give them, as they
grow and develop into mature athletes.
I am very supportive of the Cleveland
Community Field Project. It is a good investment in
the community and in the future of our youth.
