Portland City United is a classic
soccer club providing competitive training and development
for youth in the Portland metropolitan area. The club
is one of the largest in Oregon with 25 teams and
over 400 members. Like many clubs, PCU has limited
access to fields within the Portland city limits.
Our greatest need comes during our winter season (January-April).
To accommodate this need, we have partnered with Portland
Public Schools to participate in the development and
utilization of artificial turf fields. We completed
an agreement with Lincoln High School in 2002 that
has provided PCU access to the new Lincoln field for
a 5 year period.
We are interested in exploring
a similar concept with the Cleveland Community Field
Project committee. PCU would be prepared to make a
donation in return for scheduled usage of the field
during our winter season and limited use during the
summer. With the addition of this facility, we could
meet the growing demands of classic soccer within
the city.
We look forward to supporting your
development efforts and hopefully, playing a significant
role in making the Cleveland Community Field Project
a reality. Please call if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Dave Carboneau
President
